Management

DellTM OpenManageTM 4 5 systems management tools included

Integrated Base Management Controller (BMC) with Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0 allows standards-based management through OpenManage tools or any other IPMI-compliant management tool. The BMC is responsible for monitoring the health of the server and components associated with the system board of the server.

The optional DRAC 45/I slot-less management controller adds even more management capabilities above and beyond the embedded BMC management controller.

Administrative users can use the controller for complete control of the server before, during, and after the operating system is installed and running, providing absolute remote control and potentially improving productivity - just as if they were sitting in front of the system. With Virtual Floppy and CD functionality, removable media is readily available to the user as if they were in front of the server. Remote security and authentication can now be managed through Active Directory integration. Continuous video support allows the administrator to have uninterrupted access to the remote console - even during reboot - helping ensure the quick identification of issues, even if they occur during the boot POST sequence.
